Mata-Garcia Architects LLP has developed a concept for a Cultural Heratige Museum in San Benito, Texas as part of a request for proposals from the City of San Benito. The facility will house the Narcisso Martinez Cultural Arts Center, the San Benito History Museum, the Freddy Fender Museum and the Texas Conjunto Hall of Fame and Museum. Our concept restores and maintains in-use the city's 1930 public library as an entrance lobby and gift shop with new galleries on either side. Submissions are due March 7, 2012, with a selection of an architectural firm due by the end of March 2012. Design work will commence in April with construction due to start in January of 2013.
